About Reportcastry

Shaping the Next Generation of Australian Broadcast Journalists

For over a decade, Reportcastry has been Australia's most trusted name in broadcast journalism education — combining rigorous craft training with the creative artistry that defines great on-screen storytelling.

Our Story

Founded by Broadcasters, for Broadcasters

Reportcastry was founded in 2012 by Emmy Hartley and James Calloway — two broadcast veterans who saw a gap in Australia's media training landscape. University journalism degrees taught theory, but too few programmes offered the intensive, camera-ready, story-first training that networks actually demand.

From a single studio in Sydney, Reportcastry grew to become a nationally recognised academy with purpose-built broadcast studios, a roster of industry-active instructors, and graduates working at every major network across Australia and internationally.

Our name reflects our core philosophy: the art of casting — finding and projecting the authentic self on camera — combined with the craft of reportage. Every aspiring correspondent who walks through our doors leaves with the tools, confidence, and real-world experience to make their mark.

Our Values

What Drives Everything We Do

Authenticity First

We believe that a journalist's greatest asset is their genuine voice. Every programme at Reportcastry is designed to excavate and amplify who you truly are on camera — not a performance, but a presence.

Craft Over Convention

Broadcast journalism is an art form. We push our students past the formulaic and into the realm of narrative excellence — where technique serves story, not the other way around.

Industry Connection

Our instructors work in newsrooms. Our curriculum is updated each semester. Our graduates are recruited directly into Australian media. Reportcastry is not just a school — it is an industry bridge.
